Energy Conservation

With the rise in fuel prices and increased global demand for energy, we are all affected in one way or another whether it be at the gas pump or the latest electric bill.  Rising electricity costs affect co-ops and consumer alike, but together, we have the power to make a difference.

  • Our residential Home energy calculator can help estimate your energy use based on your own inputs.
  • Check out Energy Savers and find out the cost of maintaining room temperatures in both summer and winter.
  • Our You Have the Power energy guide provides you with the information you need to use energy more efficiently.  You play an important part in reducing energy demands and controlling Mid South’s energy costs.
  • Water conservation is everyone’s responsibility, our water conservation page provides information vital to preserving and extending water resources as well as saving costs.

Federal Tax Credits and Appliance Rebates for Homeowners

Under the new energy bill, consumers are eligible for up to a $500 tax credit for money spent on energy improvements in their homes. For example, you can get a $300 credit for installing a highly efficient central air conditioner, heat pump or water heater, or a $200 credit for installing energy-saving windows. To be eligible for the tax credit, these improvements must be 2006-2007. You would receive the tax credit in the tax form you file by April 15 of 2007 or 2008. For more information visit the Energy Star Web site: www.energystar.gov/taxcredits

Remember, doing all you can to effectively manage energy and water use will have a direct impact on your costs and quality of life.  As a co-op member, that’s the kind of power you have.  For more information please call 888.525.6677 or email at customerservices@midsouthsynergy.com
