Mid-South has distributed $10,000 to area assistance agencies through the Operation Round Up Program. Most of the funds have been distributed to Mid-South members who needed help in paying their electric bills in all three district areas (Grimes, Walker, Montgomery). Average assistance funding per client was just under $150, less than the average bill of a Mid-South Synergy member. "We are pleased that funding has been on its way to the people who really need it," said Mid-South’s Jeff Murski. "Working with local agencies has made fund distribution easier and more effective." In an effort to improve this program and assure that our members do not get turned away from the help that we want to give them, each Mid-South member’s bill is automatically rounded up to the next dollar, which went into effect in May. Members who do not wish to participate or choose not to continue contributions should call us at (936) 825-5100 or toll-free at (888) 525-6677.
Mid-South Synergy is pleased to announce its second funding distributions through the Operation Round Up Program. Mid-South presented checks in May totaling $5,000 to participating local assistance agencies, including Brazos Valley Community Action Agency (BVCAA), Montgomery County Emergency Assistance (MCEA) and Community Organization for Missionary Endeavor (COME). "Programs like Operation Round Up are what communities and cooperatives are all about," said Mid-South General Manager Kerry Kelton. "As an organization with a 60-year commitment to the community, it's the right thing for us to do." Operation Round Up is a program in which Mid-South members "round up" their monthly electric bill to the nearest dollar amount to provide funding for local community and charitable organizations to be redistributed to Mid-South members in need. Mid-South began offering the program to its members in 2003. By participating, Mid-South members are able to do their part to continue the Mid-South tradition of "Members Helping Members." The extra cents are allocated towards helping fellow Mid-South members when they need it most. "Through the generosity of our members and the cooperation of local agencies, we are optimistic of our ability to help those in need," said Dianne Sechelski, Mid-South’s Chief Member Service Officer. "It is our intention to help alleviate the unforeseen impacts that the rising costs of living have on our members. Operation Round Up helps us do that."
