‘FOOD FOR FAMILIES’ HUGE SUCCESS - Mid-South Synergy’s Food Drive Produces Great Community Response

December 14, 2009 (NAVASOTA, TX) – Community support soared Wednesday for the ‘Food for Families” Food Drive organized by Mid-South Synergy. Partnering with KBTX and the Brazos Valley Food Bank, Mid-South Synergy sponsored the event with the help of dozens of businesses, volunteers, and community leaders. Despite the chilly weather, spirits were high among volunteers collecting food and donations for local food pantries.

“It truly showed the spirit and generosity of our county to see so many people come out to donate and help” says Tina Warzon, Mid-South Synergy employee and Navasota organizer. “Because of our county residents and businesses’ generosity in donating and volunteering, we were able to accomplish the work that goes into making this food drive a reality.” At the Navasota site, 14,900 pounds of food and $3663.00 of donations were collected. This amount exceeds the numbers Mid-South Synergy received last year in Navasota.

The Madisonville drop-off site also had success in their food drive efforts. Madisonville organizer and Mid-South employee Michele Kimich says it was “humbling” to see so many people come out and donate. “Even with a tough economy, our co-op members and community showed that they still have a giving spirit. I know the families that will receive this food will be thankful and blessed.” The Madisonville site raised over 9,000 lbs. of food and $5,425.19 in monetary donations.

Mid-South Synergy would like to say thank you to all the volunteers, community leaders, and businesses that donated their time and resources. Mid South Synergy was truly honored to be a part of this worthy cause.
